How do I register for the Winter Run?

Online by clicking HERE.

What is the deadline for registration?
• Deadline for mail-in registrations: Postmarked by Saturday, November 26, 2016
• Deadline for online registration: December 2, 2016 (If you register online on Dec. 2, your packet will be available for pick-up on race day at The MAC)

Can schools or teams register on Race Day?
No. Schools or teams of 10 or more must register in person or by mail. Team packets must be postmarked by November 18, 2016 if mailed or turned into The Runner by Friday, November 18.  Registration for School Teams is closed.

Is there a different cost for the 10K, 2Mile and 1K events?
Yes.

• 10K and 2 Mile, $25 Pre-Race, and $30 Race Day

• 1K, $15 Pre-Race, and $20 Race Day

Do you have a special fee for school teams?
School Team Registration closes November 18, 2016. If a school fields a team of five, or more the entry fee is $15 per person with every 11th participant FREE. The physical education and/or run club instructor’s entry fee for the race is waived. Instructors are allowed to run along with their team, encourage and coach them.

Can I write one check for all participants?
Yes. We need a separate, signed registration form for each participant, but one check can be sent in with all of the forms.

If I register online, how do I know if I am registered?
Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email.

Is there an extra fee to register on-line?
Yes, there is an additional $2 to $3 fee for online registration.

When and where can I pick up my race packet?
You can pick up all race materials in person 10:30 am to 6:30 pm, Dec. 1 or 2, at The Runner, 3535 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, TX 76013. You can also pick up all race materials on race day, Saturday, Dec. 5 inside the Maverick Athletic Center (The MAC), 500 W. Nedderman Drive, Arlington, 76019. Look for registration signs.

Can someone else pick up my Race Packet or vice versa?
Yes. Please bring a copy of the registered runner’s identification so we know we are giving out the correct materials for the correct person.

Do you mail out the race bibs?
No. All bibs, t-shirts must be picked up on Dec. 1 or 2, or on race day.

Can I walk in an event or do I have to be a runner?
Walkers are definitely welcome in all races. Register for the event of choice and enjoy yourself.

Can I run the 10K and the 2 Mile?
No. The 10K and 2 Mile start times are the same.

Is the 1K timed?
No. The kids’ races are just fun. Parents who are interested in timing their children should plan on providing their own stop watch.

Is there a charge if I choose to be timed?
No. It is included in the cost of the race registration for the 10K and 2 Mile. The 1K Penguin Waddle is not timed.

What is the timing system?
The D-Tag System is used for 10k and 2 mile only. The D-Tag is attached to your race bib which should be removed and placed on your shoe following the directions attached to the D-Tag.

Can I use my own chip for timing?
No. With the upgrade to the new, improved ChronoTrack D-Tag System, other timing chips will not work. The disposable timing tag is located on the front of the race bib.

Where do I find the race results?
Race results and awards will be available on race day in The MAC at the Winter Run Finish Line Celebration. You can also find the results posted online at www.theZetnickArlingtonWinterRun.com, www.runningintheusa.com and www.clinesrunningcorner.com  Also, winner’s names will be submitted to the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Do you offer awards?
Yes. Cash awards and unique Penguin Awards are presented to the Overall 10K male and female winners and Masters 10K male and female winners.

Special Penguin Awards are presented for the overall Male/Female and Masters Male/Female in the 2 Mile. Special Penguins also are presented for the top three finishers in each age group in both the 10K and 2 Mile.

All Penguin Waddle participants receive commemorative ribbons.

Do you offer prize money?
Yes. Prize money is awarded for the 10K race only.

• First Place Overall 10K male and female winners will receive $ 100

• Masters 10K male and female winners will receive $50

Do you have age/division awards?
Special Penguins also are presented for the top three finishers in each age group in both the 10K and 2 Mile.

All Penguin Waddle participants receive commemorative ribbons.

Do you have school team entry awards?
Yes. Special awards are presented to the top three schools with the most entries, plus first and second runner-up teams. Also, special penguins will be presented to team with 10 or more entries.

Can we wear costumes in the event?
Yes, we encourage participants to show up in costumes!

Is there assistance available if I can’t do the whole course?
Yes, we have paramedics, radio operators and police officers patrolling the course. If you need assistance, just ask a volunteer or an officer for help. We also have water stops located on the course.

Are strollers allowed on the course?
Yes, we do allow people to run with baby joggers or strollers, but you must be in the last wave of your respective race, for your safety and the safety of others.

Can I run with my dog?
Yes. Friendly dogs on leashes are welcome. Owners maintain responsibility for their pets. All dogs are required to line up at the back of the pack. Please keep all dogs to a maximum 3 foot leash. Please note, dogs are not allowed inside The MAC for pre- or post-race activities

Are skateboards, rollerblades, scooters or bikes allowed?
No. For safety, please keep these items off the course.

Where are the bathrooms located?
Bathrooms are located inside the Maverick Athletic Center.

Do you offer Personal Item Storage?
No. Unfortunately due to the size of the event we are unable to offer a bag check area.

We suggest you store your items in your vehicle prior to the race or ask a friend or family member for assistance.

Parking free and is available on the north side of the Maverick Activities Center, (The MAC), 500 W. Nedderman, Arlington, TX 76019

How can I volunteer?
Visit the VOLUNTEER page. Download and print a sign-up form. We need volunteers to keep the race running smoothly and appreciate the help!

Can I get community service hours for volunteering?
Yes. There will be community service hour forms available for volunteers after completing their shift. The forms will need to be signed by an authorized race staff person.

Are there concessions available at the Zetnick Arlington Winter Run?
Fresh fruit, breads, coffee, water, pizza and other goodies will be available following the race, at Winter Run Finish Line Celebration inside the MAC.

What if it rains or snows?
The Zetnick Winter Run will go on in all weather.

What happens to the proceeds from the Don Zetnick Arlington Winter Run?
Proceeds from the race, hosted by The Runner, will go toward helping support many of the YMCA of Arlington programs like LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a research-based program designed to help cancer survivors and their families, as well as sustaining our YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program, a special course that helps those at high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The Y works hard to ensure that youth and families can participate in programs regardless of their ability to pay. Proceeds from the race will help provide scholarships for our Before- and After-School childcare, youth sports and many other Y programs.

 

Volunteer FAQ

How do I register to volunteer?
Volunteer registration is online or by mail.

I have a large group that wants to volunteer.  How can I sign the whole group up?
We are requesting that each volunteer fill out the registration form.  As a group leader, you email out the information form to each volunteer in your group or you can collect their contact information and sign them up online yourself, or mail in their information.  If you have additional questions or need more assistance, please email Pablo Munoz at pablom@amaymca.org. Where do I pick up my volunteer shirt?
Shirts for the Zetnick Arlington Winter Run volunteers will be available at the Maverick Activities Center prior to your race shift. Please arrive a few minutes early to get your shirt and sign in at the Volunteer Registration Desk You can also pick up your race day volunteer shirts at volunteer orientation.

Can I get community service hours for volunteering at the Zetnick Arlington Winter Run?

Yes. When you fill out your volunteer information form, please check the box for community service hours.

How do I get confirmation of my volunteer hours?
We encourage each volunteer to bring any school forms that need to be signed with you to your scheduled shift.  We will have some blank volunteer forms available at the Volunteer Registration Desks and on race day.  Race day volunteers should proceed to the volunteer desk after your scheduled shift to have your paperwork signed.  We strongly recommend you have any required documentation signed at the time of your volunteer shift to ensure you have your paperwork for any deadlines.  As this is a seasonal event toward the end of the semester, there can be a delay in getting signed paperwork after the event.

Do you accept court ordered community service?
We do not accept court ordered community service and cannot verify any hours for the courts.
